Affordable Delivery Vehicle Mobile Computing
Mobile is a software application created
by The Fuel Web that automates shift processing and delivery transactions for propane companies and their fuel delivery drivers. The application
will work with most handheld computers that use the Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003® and Windows Mobile 5.0® such as off-the-shelf PDA's
and more hardened brands. Mobile
communicates with the electronic metering hardware registers resident on the delivery vehicle, e.g. Liquid Controls®,
Benefit:
The Mobile software application is a
tightly integrated component of the Delivery
Management System. Installed on a mobile computer, the application exchanges delivery schedules, tank data, customer information and
truck data with the Delivery Management System.
Serial communication with the electronic meter registers enables the mobile computer to control the start and stop of gas flow, acquire and
print delivery quantity information and delivery receipts in the during the delivery transaction.
Feature At Work:
Intelligent Propane has been using the
Delivery Management System which includes the deployment of low cost PDA's in their fuel delivery vehicles. The decision behind
the selection a PDA hardware platform included allowing the retail technology market to drive the computing hardware features and pricing.
Intelligent Propane has saved thousands of dollars on their fuel delivery vehicle automation project by using off-the-shelf PDA's in
combination with the Mobile supplied by
